Damien Jurado - Sheets

Not much for the music video since it is just the image of the album cover, but this is an awesome song. My taste seems to be picking up on the local Ithaca folk revival influence. I enjoy the complexity of the emotions behind a lot of the songs. I've come to realize that most of pop songs are about sex/revenge/falling in love. The majority of Indie rock music falls along the same lines with a little more of the dissatisfaction of life thrown in to boot. But when you get to artists like Damien Jurado, Yeasayer, Shearwater, and the Great Lake Swimmers, the songs are about life. It captures more of the subtlety and entanglements of the highs and lows of what we go through. Relationships are not simply about sex and love, life and youth complicate everything. I think "Sheets" is a prime example of this. Well, that is your DJ Philosophy for the evening.
